The Origins of Balloon Belly Ball
The Balloon Belly Ball party game was originally conceived at a party with no enough action, but plenty of balloons. The traditional Balloon Volleyball game is a typical staple of the no-action party, with little or no variation occurring as a result. However, it typically requires little action and ceases the moment that the balloon pops on a candelabra or drifts out of reach. The Balloon Belly Ball party is a variation on the volleyball theme, and gives everybody something to laugh at.
What you will need for Balloon Belly Ball:
1 balloon, any size, to act as the "Ball"
1 large balloon per participant
1 clear living room space, with sharp objects put away
Rules of Balloon Belly Ball
Each player puts a large balloon under their shirts and the group of players forms a loose circle. This in itself is enough to get a few giggles from the peanut gallery. Once the balloons are secured beneath each of the players' shirts, one player serves the "ball" balloon by tossing it lightly towards another player. That player then must hit the "ball" with their belly, which is much larger due to the balloon under their shirt, using a forward thrusting motion which pushes the "balloon belly" out. They then can choose to do tricks with the "ball", or pass it to another player, much like the game play style of foot bag.
In this game, points are a bad thing. If a player is responsible for the "ball" becoming unplayable, i.e. it falls to the ground because of their action or inaction, or gets lodged in some inaccessible cranny, they receive a point. If a player touches the "ball" with their hands, except to retrieve it once it has become unplayable, the offending player receives a point.
The game is played for a predetermined amount of time, or stops when food is about to be served, or everybody just gets tired of it and wants to do something else. The player(s) with the fewest number of points wins the game.
This game is great as an ice-breaker, since everyone involved is pretty silly looking, there is little likelihood of injury. It can be played with or without points.
